climate of vietnam
Like many other countries in Southeast Asia, Vietnam reallly only has two main seasons, affected by winds that blow across the country known as monsoons. There is a hot, rainy season (mid-May to mid-September) and a warm, dry season (mid-October to mid-March). Rainfall and temperatures can vary greatly throughout Vietnam. The average amount of precipitation in the northern half of Vietnam is about 80 inches and in the south it is about 60 inches. Central Vietnam beats both though, with the average rainfall reaching 120 inches in some places. Flooding is a very common thing in Vietnam, so the poeple have prepared themselves. There are dikes all over Vietnam to hold back and sotre water for growing things. Vietnam's tropical climate makes it great for growing crops, like rice in the south, and rubber and coffee in the more mountainous regions.
